CNN —Three inmates who escaped from prison in Grenada have been charged with killing two Americans after allegedly hijacking their yacht last month to flee to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, police said Thursday. Hendry and Brandel, based in Virginia, were living out a long-held dream of cruising the Caribbean in their sailing yacht called Simplicity, to Antigua when they went missing, according to their yacht club, the Salty Dawg Sailing Association. Their vessel was found abandoned in neighboring St. Vincent and the Grenadines on February 21, with the husband and wife nowhere to be found, the yacht club said. WASHINGTON (AP) — Ancient stone tools found in western Ukraine may be the oldest known evidence of early human presence in Europe, according to research published Wednesday in the journal Nature. Archaeologists used new methods to date the layers of sedimentary rock surrounding the tools to more than 1 million years old. The chipped stone tools were likely used for cutting meat and perhaps scraping animal hides, he said. The very earliest stone tools of this type were found in eastern Africa and date back to 2.8 million years ago, said Rick Potts, who directs the Smithsonian Institution's Human Origins Program. “The oldest humans with this old stone tool technology were able to colonize everywhere from warm Iberia (Spain) to Ukraine, where it's at least seasonally very cold – that’s an amazing level of adaptability,” said Potts.

CNN —The Federal Aviation Administration said on Friday that after reviewing Boeing’s instructions for inspecting grounded 737 Max 9 planes, it has decided to seek more information before allowing the plan to proceed. One hundred and seventy-one of the planes remain grounded in the United States as airlines Alaska and United await updated emergency inspection guidance from the FAA. The FAA said it plans to collect data from the inspection of 40 of the planes using Boeing’s procedures before deciding whether the process will work for the rest of the grounded planes. It’s unclear whether the 40 planes will come from the Alaska Airlines fleet or the United Airlines fleet – the two airlines that fly this model of aircraft – or both. The agency’s latest move comes as the FAA also plans to audit the Boeing 737 Max 9 production line and its suppliers, with a focus on ensuring quality control.

CNN —Tiger Woods says he’s only prepared to walk away from playing golf when he no longer believes he can be competitive as he insisted that’s currently not the case. “I love competing, I love playing,” Woods told reporters ahead of his highly-anticipated return to competitive golf. While confirming the operation to fuse his ankle earlier this year was successful, Woods said that his recovery took its toll. “Unfortunately I’ve had experience, I’ve gone through it before and I’m here on the good side now.”Woods has not played competitive golf since April, 2023.
